Future Scientists in the Making

Last Friday, The Girl's Preschool's science teacher brought some fun experiments for the kids. Little Man came with me to drop The Girl off so he got a chance to play too.

With a little baking soda and vinegar, his balloon filled with air. Got to love that expression.

Then, he found out how sour a lemon really was

Here' s The Girl scooping and pouring

And don't forget The Boy, too.
Here they're learning about acids and bases.

Oh to be little and have all new experiences be SO very exciting and new. The thing that I love about childhood is that everyday is a new adventure full of new experiences. My job is to keep the doors open. To leave little clues. To guide them; not answer all their questions. But rather, lead them towards obtaining their own conclusions.

How boring would life be if you had all the answers. you had a cheat sheet, per say.

I don't want that for these two. No, it's not necessarily the 'school of hard knocks' but we don't wait on them hand and foot. They have things (most especially themselves) to be responsible for.

And when they have questions ~ like most kids do ~ we find the answers out together. We'll read a book. Look it up. Ask questions. Isn't that what life and learning is all about? Figuring out solutions to our problems. Being self-sufficient. Being proud of our accomplishments. Not for the stars the teacher will give us but because we wanted to seek the truth. Independent Thinkers. That's what I wish for them. (~ and let me tell ya, they're well on their way!)

I have to give these two the tools that will help them seek their answers.
The tools to be decent human beings.
And everything else, well that's gravy, baby!
