on the drive we called and asked if MIL could watch The Two got a thumbs up! yay! we were thinking of which movie we'd like to see, where we'd walk and take pictures, be.
got there, getting settled, found out that The Husband's brother was on his way to drop of his Two so screeeech our plans of goin' out ended. There's no way that Ma ~ as amazing as she is~ could possible watch TK ~ who's 9, The Girl ~ who's 4.5, The Boy ~ who's 2 but thinks he's 5 plus the baby ~ 3 months and Miles ~ 1.5 on her own.
So, The Husband and I are on survival mode. He heads over to the grocery store and picks up goodies to make soba, with his homemade soba sauce and his kick a*s ginger pork.

I've got the sidewalk chalk and extras outside and Thomas on the tube (must have been invented by a parent).

We're good.
The Baby cries the entire time she's there. We all rotate ~Ma, The Husband and I~ holding her and we'd each get her to calm down for a bit only for her to start up again.
Never-the-less I've got Miles in a high chair and the other 3 sitting at the table eating their meal. We had them set up and bus the table, too (hey, we're not hired keep). They play some more.
The Boy has an explosive #2 and we give him a bath.
After dinner, the 4 are all playing while Ma's with the baby still trying to get her to stop crying.
Finally, around 9 pm They Come to pick up the two little ones.
We get The Two to bed (which takes 5 minutes since they were so tired and it was so past their bedtime) and The Husband and I head over to the bookstore because we're nerds like that and find comfort in a place of words.
I was so tired that I stayed on the main level. I didn't venture downstairs or even upstairs. oh well. at least we had 40 minutes before the bookstore closed.
We were TIRED but felt pretty accomplished. We didn't have to talk out the game plan. We just Did it. We're cool like that.
Sunday: we had a bbq for Pa.
we headed back home and got in past 11 pm that night.
Monday morning: I stay for the Girl's Graduate circle ~ she led the kids to a game of duck, duck, goose and I left to get some grocery shopping with The Boy. Make him lunch. Went back to school (12 pm) to help the Grads make their flag for the ceremony at the end of the week. AND we had the last general meeting at school at 6 pm.

I'm so t-i-r-e-d! so tired that The Two are watching Hi-5 in the living room.
