Computer Guts

My poor poor G4 has been feeling ill lately. Actually it all started during that god-awful deadline for the book. we have a downstairs office (where i usually work) and an upstairs office (where R usually works). We had so much to do that R ended up bringing up a table and my computer upstairs in our room so that i could work into the night as the kids slept and so we could easily talk with each other (he does the designing and i do that artwork wrangling/proofing so we needed to make sure we didn't re-request material...blah blah blah)

oh about that computer, it all of the sudden stopped working. in the middle of deadline. actually it was closer to the very end of deadline when everything was so very urgent. i had to use mom's G5 (oh the sacrifices i have to make to earn a dollar!)

we found out that the fan wasn't working. that in essence, my computer was overheating. the fan wasn't working because the external temp of the room was chilly (downright C-O-L-D) and it didn't think to turn on. that caused the internal (guts) of the G4 to overheat and it shut down. and it wouldn't go back on for very long.

so mister fix it man (a.k.a let me open it up first man) has been working on it with the "help" of his 'mini-me'



today we went to CompUSA to get a new fan. there's one more part that we need to get and R should have it all up in no time! Then, I can get back to my Mac and let this little PC take a break. I miss my big screen and fast computer!

well, at least the next deadline isn't for a few more months.
