this is him.
always calm in the midst of chaos.
sitting still when everthing is moving.

he fights his battles
he holds his tongue
he is strong
and smart
and dedicated..to us...to his work...to his family

we met (in what feels like) another lifetime
when life was easy
when we just "hung out"
when we went on dates
when we watched movies (at movie theaters when movies were just released)
when we had not much to plan for or worry about

when it was just us

and soon our "us" got married and created two little "mini-us"
the girl and the boy

and now we go on group dates (the four of us)
and we have loving grandparents to watch the boy and the girl
so the original us can reconnect and hang out
we watch G rated movies - in our living room - once the DVD is out
we have more to plan for and worry about

and we also have two little ones that make the worrying and planning worth it.

early on (like before we got married) we had some bumps in the road. broke up and got back together (a few time --yes, it was all me) but because of that we have hashed it all out.

we are good and we have been good. "Boring" good, as i like to say. no drama. no fighting. no bickering. just good old boring good. and that in itself is good.

we give each other the opportunity to grow. we are about supporting each other. giving the other the chance to be..to grow..to try new ventures.

we have common goals. we "talk good" with each other. we listen well. we enjoy each other. i hope that those are things that only continue to grow and strengthen.

he is amazing with the kids. he is the best "hide-and-seek" player around.

we are lucky. lucky to have him in our lives.
