Recovering from Last Weekend

The Girl's been home the last two days.
She hasn't been sleeping very well and the heat hasn't been helping.
I really don't mind her being home. It's been nice just hanging out.

We've written letters to each other and The Boy has been delivering them.
We've played with trains and blocks and even started making a family tree. The Girl has been really interested in whom her cousins are
(our families are HUGE so there are tons and tons of them).

We've been playing hide and seek and have been working on our Mother's Day Cards.
It's been a good couple of days. The Boy has been enjoying his time with The Sister. I've enjoyed not have to drive around in the heat.

Last night we read our bedtime stories in the back of the 4-Runner.
We brought down a blanket, a couple of pillows, a few books and their sippy cups of milk.
We ended up reading only one book and looking up at the sky and listening to the crickets the rest of the time.

Today we're driving to the South Bay for lunch. We have a favorite mom and pop teriyaki place we like to go to. Yes, we're a 'Will Drive for Food' kind of family.

Since we like to eat out and we eat out often (though not quite as much as before - when we it was just the two of us), the Kids have gotten so used to eating out that they're much better at sitting still throughout the meal.
At least the Boy is much better.
We lucked out with the Girl. She's been pretty good at staying in her spot.

Here are the pics from one of the parties that we went to this weekend. A very fun party indeed! There was a bounce house, a snow cone machine, rock painting and rope swinging.

It was SO much fun.

She had so much fun swinging that she got a blister on her finger. She loves all these active adventures. She loves rock climbing and tumbling too. I need to take her to a local rock climbing place so she can do it more often.

The kids LOVED the snow cones. It was a warm day so the icy cold sweet treat was just what they needed.

Here they are with Rita the Cat. I am not a fan of cats. I'm actually allergic. The Kids and Husband LOVE cats. I'm just not a fan. But I did like this cat. She was so sweet and loved all the attention the kids gave her. We may not be getting a cat in the near future (or ever) but I'm slowly getting used to them (or at least cats like Rita).

Little Man slept through most of the party. The mom of the birthday boy was kind enough to let Little Man sleep in her older daughter's bedroom. That was such a HUGE help. When he did wake up, it took a while for him to warm up to the party. It was strange waking up in an unfamiliar room with lots of people he didn't know. Luckily a mom he did know who was inside the house carried him over to me when he woke up.

xo,
me
