last night

Oh yes, it's ladies night
And the feeling's right

Six moms and a girlfriend
a round (or two) of drinks
a round (or three) of shots
lots of dancing and laughing

no kids
no husbands
no boyfriends

just us gals

we actually pulled it off
there were a few 'iffy' moments
but we got there

and soon we were whisked into the VIP line and straight into the club
it's been a while since we've all gone out
it's been a while since we've had a night out
and we had so much fun!

we got home to some of the husbands playing poker
some guests playing on the Wii (yes we brought it over)
and we all sat around the kitchen island and chatted

dutifully enough, my girlfriend's husband bbq'd us some burgers (what a good man)

we planned it so that we'd leave once we put the kids to bed
that way we wouldn't have that 'mommy guilt' that would make us reconsider

it was so wonderful putting on clothes that wouldn't be tugged on by a little one
that I could be someplace dark and loud and dance to someone other than
Laurie Berker and Dan Zanes.
it was good being with a bunch of moms who understood how needed the night was

we don't get to do this often (or at all really) so it was a sweet treat that we all got to do this together!

Thanks to all those college years of partying because I'm doin' alright.
oh what a night!
