I had my workday today. I have a workday every Thursday. This week I had an afternoon workday on Tuesday, R took my afternoon yesterday and I had a full day today. So, I've had a lot of love overload from the girl this week. When we first started, she wanted to stay near me. She didn't want me to leave at all. But slowly, she's adjusted to life on the 'yard.' It's called the yard because ALL of school is done outside. During the afternoon portion it's indoors for a bit then outside for more play.
Most of the time, she's off playing on her own while I take care of my area. She's even ventured to play with some kids that used to scare her. She still prefers to play with the younger kids, she's nurturing like that and she's still loves to hang out with me but for the most part, she's Miss Independent at school.
Little Man comes to school with us on my workday (how cool is that?) and he adores every second he's there -- that is until he's ready for his nap then he really REALLY wants to be back at home. Today, for the FIRST time ever, he sat in the swings. He is not a swing man. But he asked another mom to help him up and he let her push him. This is huge in our household. The Girl is the adventurer, the explorer, the stunt junkie.... The Boy likes to play alot but with two feet firmly planted on the ground.
Life's good with these two. They're kind. They're empathetic. She's a great listener and follower of directions (usually) and he's working on it (hey he's only 2). They're fun and silly. They love to have a good time. They're pretty mellow and easy-going, unless they're mad, then you're a gonner (it's a bad trait they've inherited from me). They love to learn and read and be read to. They're willing to try something new, be it food or a new location or a new toy...change is good!
Sure, there are times when they fight (what siblings don't) and there are times when they don't listen but there are many more times when they are loving and when they listen.
They get a lot of these good traits from The Dad. He's one amazing man. And to think, I almost let that man go. Good thing he's a determined (insert patient and forgiving) fellow.
time to make dinner.
